Gather begins with a form I have noticed and remembered. I make a unit and repeat it, assembling in response to structures found throughout nature. At times a vessel gathers these elements, holding the relationship between parts and the whole; at other times the assembly stands on its own. The work is guided by reflection rather than representation, carrying the trace of that initial discovery forward.
